Field notes for collection operators.

A routing tool answers the question you ask it. An agentic dispatcher owns the question. Here's what that difference means for anyone running a bin network, a donation pickup program, or a collection fleet.

Cities don't ban donation bins because bins are bad. They ban them because a few get neglected and the whole industry takes the blame. But banning them fixes nothing. It just sends the clothes to the trash.

Almost every collection operation runs on fragments — routing tools, GPS trackers, spreadsheets, and group texts that don't talk to each other. An AI-native platform isn't a chatbot bolted onto existing software. It's a system built from the ground up to plan, adapt, and learn.

Most donation collection operators run on four disconnected tools. Here's what a purpose-built collection platform looks like, and what the duct-tape stack actually costs you.

Most people picture a thrift store rack. In reality, donated clothing enters a global supply chain of sorting, grading, and resale that keeps textiles in use far longer than you'd expect.

California's textile EPR program is moving from legislation to implementation. Here's what Landbell USA's selection means for textile collectors, recyclers, sorters, and secondary materials operators.

The EU's new Extended Producer Responsibility directive for textiles is now law. Here's what it requires, when it takes effect, and what it means for textile collection companies.

Textile collection software helps clothing and textile recyclers plan routes, manage bins, and track pickups at scale. Learn what it is, who uses it, and why the industry is moving beyond spreadsheets.

Running a donation collection business requires more than bins and trucks. Learn what you actually need—locations, routing software, driver apps, and asset management—to build a scalable operation.

The donation industry is evolving with smart sensors, AI-driven routing, and real-time data analytics to maximize collections and reduce inefficiencies. Technologies like fill-level sensors, AI-powered route optimization, and asset tracking are improving efficiency, cutting costs, and preventing lost donations. With Plutou leading the charge, the future of donation logistics will be defined by predictive AI, sustainability tracking, and seamless fleet coordination, ensuring smarter, more sustainable operations.

Donation teams struggle with fragmented and outdated data, leading to wasted time, inefficient pickups, and missed donations. The lack of transparency and coordination forces them to juggle multiple apps and manually track bins and vehicles. A smarter system can automate routes, centralize data, and optimize asset tracking, improving efficiency and reducing wasted miles.

Everything we throw away gets picked up by someone working from a paper sheet, a spreadsheet and a group text. That part of the job deserves the same care as anything else we use every day.
